Dubai Tram Fare Rates By Nol Card
Dubai Tram fares are part of Dubai's integrated Nol public transport fare system. The amount is based on the journey's zone band and fare product rather than simply the number of tram stops. The following table reflects the RTA fare schedule consulted for this page; check the official schedule for later changes.
| Fare Category | Within 1 Zone | 2 Adjacent Zones | More Than 2 Zones |

How Zone-Based Tram Pricing Works
Dubai's public transport network is divided into fare zones. The amount charged depends on the zones crossed during the journey, not solely on how many times the tram stops between your start and end points. A journey within one zone generally costs less than one crossing multiple zones.
The fare categories in the table are general network fare bands. The calculator lets you select a band, but it does not look up individual station locations or confirm the precise zone boundary for a particular journey. Use the official network map and RTA journey information if you are unsure which band applies.
Silver, Personal And Gold Nol Fares
Silver is the regular Nol card category used by many residents and visitors. Personal Nol cards also support standard fares, while registered Personal Nol cards can provide concession fares to qualifying passengers. Gold Nol provides access to Gold Class on the tram and Metro, where the applicable fare is higher than standard class.
Red Tickets are intended for single-journey or limited-use travel. Their fare structure differs from Silver and Personal Nol cards, so do not assume the lowest Silver fare applies when purchasing a Red Ticket. The fare estimator keeps these products separate to help you compare them.
What Is Included In This Estimate?
The calculator estimates fares for the selected fare category, zone band and number of one-way journeys. It multiplies the selected fare by the number of trips in the chosen budgeting period. It does not include the purchase price of a Nol card, travel passes, taxi connections, parking, refreshments or other costs outside the selected journeys.
How To Use The Dubai Tram Fare Calculator
Follow these steps to estimate your likely transport spending before commuting, visiting Dubai Marina or planning a trip along the tram route.
Select Your Nol Product
Choose Silver, Personal, Red Ticket or Gold Class. If you qualify for a concession, select the relevant eligible category and verify the requirements with RTA.
Choose The Zone Band
Select within one zone, two adjacent zones or more than two zones. Check the RTA fare information if you need to confirm a specific start and end station.
Enter Your Travel Pattern
Enter your usual one-way journeys per week, how many weeks you want to budget for and whether your weekly journey count includes return travel.
Compare Before You Travel
Use the estimate to plan a transport budget, then check current fares, card conditions and service information with the official operator.
How The Fare Estimate Is Calculated
The calculation starts with the single-journey fare for your chosen Nol category and zone band. If you select a discounted or free-travel category, the calculation uses that selected category's fare treatment. It then multiplies the one-way amount by the number of journeys included in the budgeting period.
For example, ten one-way journeys per week at AED 3 each produce an estimated weekly cost of AED 30. Over four weeks, the estimate is AED 120. If you travel to a destination and back, count the return leg as another one-way journey unless you have already included it in your weekly total.
This is a budget estimate, not a promise that a particular trip will be charged at that price. The actual fare is determined by the operator's fare system and the journey recorded by the Nol card reader.
Weekly And Monthly Transport Budgeting
Weekly and monthly projections help commuters compare travel patterns. Someone who travels to work five days per week and returns home each day normally makes ten one-way journeys per week. Additional weekend trips should be added if you want a more complete estimate.
The monthly estimate in this tool uses an average month of 52 weeks divided by 12. This produces a useful budgeting figure but may differ from a specific calendar month with a different number of commuting days. For a precise month-specific total, enter the actual number of journeys in the selected period.
What Can Change Your Fare?
- The number of zones travelled through.
- The Nol card or ticket product selected.
- Gold Class use on the tram or Metro.
- Eligibility for an official concession.
- Whether the journey includes connected public transport.
- Fare schedule or policy changes made by RTA.
- Whether your trip count includes both outward and return legs.
For the final amount, follow the fare displayed or deducted by the official Nol system. Use the estimate for planning, not as a substitute for checking a trip.
Practical Tips For Managing Dubai Tram Costs
Small improvements in how you plan journeys can make your public transport budget easier to understand. Compare the ticket types and review your actual travel frequency before choosing a product.
Choose The Right Nol Product
Compare regular Nol cards with Red Ticket options. Consider how often you travel and check current card and ticket conditions before buying.
Check Your Route
Confirm your start and end stations and the applicable fare band. A station count alone does not determine the fare.
Count Return Journeys
For a normal commute, remember that travelling to work and returning home usually means two one-way journeys.
Understand Gold Class
Gold Class offers a different travel experience and has a higher fare. Select it only when you intend to use the relevant Gold Class facility.
Verify Concession Eligibility
Eligible passengers may qualify for reduced fares or free travel. Confirm the applicable card, registration and documentation rules with RTA.
Review Your Spending
Compare your estimated weekly and monthly costs with your actual travel history. Adjust the journey count when your commuting pattern changes.
Using Nol Cards On Dubai Tram
The Dubai Tram is part of Dubai's public transport network. According to the RTA's service guidance, passengers need a Nol card with sufficient balance, should tap in at the entrance reader and tap out at the exit reader to have the journey fare deducted.
The RTA service page states a minimum balance requirement for tram use. Requirements can change, so check the current official guidance before travelling, especially if your card balance is low. You should also make sure the tap-in and tap-out process is completed correctly.
For a journey that combines tram travel with other public transport, review the RTA's transfer and fare rules. The total charge may depend on the journey across modes and the number of zones travelled. This calculator only estimates the fare band you select; it does not automatically combine multiple transport legs.
Check The Official Tram Service Information
For station access, travel steps and current operating guidance, consult the official RTA Transport Using Dubai Tram service page. Use official information for operational details and the fare page for prices.
Before You Tap In
- Make sure your Nol product is valid for the trip.
- Check that your card has sufficient balance.
- Tap in at the entry reader and follow station instructions.
- Listen for announcements and check the digital screens.
- Tap out at the destination reader.
- Keep your card available until the journey is complete.
- Ask RTA for help if your fare or card transaction appears incorrect.

These answers explain how to interpret the calculator and where to verify official fares before travelling.
How much does Dubai Tram cost for one journey?
The fare depends on the selected Nol product and journey zone band. The published standard Silver fare table lists AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 for two adjacent zones and AED 7.50 for more than two zones. Check the official RTA fare schedule for current rates.
Is Dubai Tram included in the Nol fare system?
Yes. Dubai Tram is part of the RTA public transport network and uses Nol for fare payment. Your charge depends on the journey and applicable fare rules, so check the RTA fare page if you are combining transport modes.
Is Gold Class more expensive on Dubai Tram?
Yes. Gold Class has a higher fare than standard class on the tram and Metro. The calculator uses the Gold fare band for the selected journey. Check the official fare schedule before travelling.
Does the calculator work out a route from station names?
No. This version estimates a fare after you select a zone band. It does not search for stations or automatically identify the number of zones crossed. Confirm the appropriate fare band using official RTA information.
Can I estimate my weekly and monthly tram expenses?
Yes. Enter the number of one-way journeys you make per week and the number of weeks to budget for. The calculator estimates the total for that period and shows a weekly and average monthly projection.
Should I count a return trip as one journey or two?
For fare budgeting, a trip to a destination and the journey back are normally two one-way journeys. Use the return-trip selector to have the calculator count two legs, or choose one-way only if your entered trip count already includes the correct number of legs.
Are children allowed to travel for free?
The RTA fare schedule lists free travel for children aged five and below. Confirm the current eligibility conditions and any age or documentation requirements with RTA before travelling.
Do students receive a discount on Dubai Tram?
The RTA lists concession fares for eligible students and certain other categories using the applicable Personal Nol arrangements. Eligibility and documentation requirements apply. Confirm your status and the current fare rules with RTA rather than assuming every student automatically qualifies.
Can People Of Determination travel free?
The RTA service guidance states that People of Determination can travel free on Dubai Tram subject to the applicable rules. Check the official RTA concession guidance for card requirements, documentation and current eligibility.
What balance do I need on my Nol card?
The RTA's tram service information states a minimum balance requirement for using the tram. As this requirement may be updated, check the current RTA service page before travelling and top up your card if needed.
Does the estimate include a Nol card purchase?
No. The result estimates journey fares only. It does not add the initial purchase price of a card or ticket, top-up fees if applicable, travel passes or any separate transport costs.
Why is my actual fare different from the estimate?
Your actual fare may differ if the selected zone band is incorrect, you use a different card or ticket, your journey crosses additional zones, a concession is not applicable, or the RTA changes its fare rules. Use the official fare schedule and your Nol transaction record to confirm the charge.
